A Trip to New Jersey

At the end of September Xavier made his first trip to New Jersey to meet the Rose side of the family. After a long train ride (7 hrs. + a 2-hour delay), we arrived at Great Grandmom Rose's. She was so excited to see Xavier that she came rushing out of the house along with the rest of my family. I was so happy they finally got to meet.

Our first weekend we went to the campground with my parents and stayed in their camper. It was Xavier's first "camping" experience. He did well and he was absolutely mesmerized by the campfire. The posted photo was taken during our stay there.

After that we didn't do very much at all - Mom got lots of rest and Xavier got lots of attention. We visited with my grandmother as much as possible and she just loved it. I only planned to stay a week, but my brother was bringing his family up the following weekend to celebrate their daughter Louisa's first birthday, so we stayed a little longer. It was great to see them and to play with my nieces.

Overall, it was a fun and relaxing time for me. My parents had a wonderful time doting on and playing with Xavier, and they quickly got used to coming home from work to see him. Peter survived with out us, but we both agreed it felt like we had been gone for a month instead of 12 days!
